The mission of the Lufkin ISD Education Foundation is to provide opportunities for excellence in education, promote innovation in teaching, and partner with the community to enhance the quality of education for all students of the Lufkin Independent School District.
FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Shelli C. Ellis
One of the best parts about producing our annual report is it allows us to step back and look at everything the Lufkin ISD Education Foundation was able to accomplish over the past year. Thanks to overwhelming community support, together, we are proud to say that we truly delivered on our mission of supporting students and their academic achievement.
As you flip through our report, you will see the Foundation had another record year! In August 2018, we awarded 25 grants totaling $57,865 directly benefitting the students of Lufkin ISD. These efforts would not have been possible without our gracious donors, including supporters of our High Five Club, Linebarger Groggan Blair &Sampson’s sponsorship of our 5th Annual Panthers of Prestige Banquet, and the donation received from Southside Bank’s Open Adams Pro Tour Tournament just to name a few.
I again want to thank our tremendous donors, board members and volunteers for joining us on this journey to give students every opportunity possible to reach academic success and their highest potential. As we enter our 6th year supporting Lufkin ISD students, we look forward to continued growth – both in students impacted and operational efficiency – so we can be the best stewards of our resources that we can possibly be.
It is my honor to serve as the 2019 President of the Lufkin Education Foundation. I am very appreciative of the course our former Executive Director, Vickie Evans, provided to the Foundation and look forward to working alongside our new Executive Director Vercie McMullen, to strive towards another successful year of investing in the children of Lufkin ISD!
The Foundation remains steadfast in our mission to make certain every student has the tools they need to succeed academically. Your continued financial support is transforming our community for the better; putting at-risk students on a path to high-school graduation, and ultimately creating a better future for themselves.
NO OTHER INVESTMENT YIELDS AS GREAT A RETURN AS THE INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION.
